the view from where I'm standing.

I'm standing here.

And I feel like it's something that has shaped my entire life. Even unconsciously, I think, almost everything I have done my entire life has somehow been towards this goal.
Even without realizing it sometimes, I think, small sacrifices (could they even be called that, really?), led me to this week. Just the little parts of me that I've created, become, and tried to perfect (not that I'm close). It was one of the first goals ever instilled in me, and it made the top of every list. And even on future husband potentials list, taking me to the temple was at the top. It's my whole life on a little card with my signature on it.
This next week, this is what my whole life has been about...

Huge.... (okay so I never thought like this every time I made a decision, but I'm musing retrospectively). It's just crazy, no? Yeah, I don't usually think like this.

randoms.

Back to rain/snow. :(

I have a lot of stuff. And I can't part with it. Maybe later.

I am sad to be packing.

You know, I have the best friends.

I rocked my stats test.

My boss told me about this cool guy named Pete Seeger. He said this:

"If the world is to survive, the whole human race must realize how important it is that we learn how to communicate with each other, even if we disagree strongly".

retraction.

Okay, I take it back the whining. Apparently I hadn't refreshed the weather page and now it says PARTLY CLOUDY AND 50!!!

I know, I know. Weather is not important. But I want clear, happy, sunny, warmish (not cold), pictures! I already froze through two sets of them...and I know it could be worse. But this is me, here, now. And I'm going to refresh this page like crazy I already can tell.

So, yeah. You probably went to the weather page and was like "what a baby, what did she expect, 70?"

surry.

cavity free's the...best wedding present!

I give myself one more day to make the banana bread I promised myself I was going to make with the ever blackening bananas on the counter. I almost threw them away today because, hey, they look disgusting, and they were cheap. And I bought them probably over a week ago. What is that accounting term? Well, whatever....cut the losses cause I already paid for them and I would never eat them anyways. But I rationalized saying, well, tomorrow I'll be done with all the pressing stuff and might have time tomorrow.

I know my teacher is going to pick me to define whatever it was on the last slide. I know because he was looking at me, and I'm probably the only one who drifted off during the last 10 minutes of his lecture in full light. Ack. And all I did was review physical science in the class anyways. Oops, that was a waste.

Maybe I should go to reviews. Maybe I should read more. Maybe I'M GETTING MARRIED IN 9 DAYS and don't give a crap about the wave/particle duality of matter. No but really, I ought to have better motivation.

Actually, I understand the whole wave/particle thing. I have no idea how I did so badly on my test. I'm having accounting flashback nightmares. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

So uh, next on the nightmare list: the weather for next week. LOOK

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I don't know. For all of the things I'm not asking for and whatever, PLEASE! Can we pause today's gorgeous weather for two weeks??? Why couldn't it snow this week and next week be beautiful!?

I think today was my last shopping trip as a single person. Not that I haven't been shopping and eating like I'm married since the summer...oh well. Interesting, this week will be full of lasts. But good ones. Or great ones. Some are sad though.

It's all just different.
thanks a lot physical science. you suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck.

Okay, okay, I admit partial responsibility. But not much.

drama, drama, drama.

So as my motivation and grades slip faster and further down, I at least have some excuse, right? I'll just blame this semester on the fact that I'm getting married/got married. Except, I can't really afford that grade-wise, so I don't know...we'll see...but....

(drum roll, if you please)

The TEN DAY countdown has begun!!

Weird.

Rest of birthday post is coming.

oh happy birthday....

Nothing super exciting has happened lately....except there are TWELVE DAYS left! Whoo! School is pretty good. This last week was nice and easy but unfortunately I should have done more work because this week will be killer! Luckily though, it settles down just in time. The three day weekend was fun. Dave and I went with my family Friday night to see the Draper temple, and it is beautiful!! I can't wait to go back again. It was pretty lucky I got to see an open house two weeks before I get to go through...it made all the explanations make more sense!

Saturday we had breakfast in the morning, went and saw "He Loves Me, He Loves Me Not" (a really cool/creepy french movie). After I worked for a few hours and then Dave picked me up with a rose and a super clean car!! We went to my house where I gave him his mission pictures in a photo album (that took a few hours!) and he made dinner, we went to my old roommate's wedding reception (which was beautiful). Then we rented Get Smart (and loved it)...ate a lot of candy and enjoyed a relaxing night!

On Monday, I went to the shade sale with Aimee and Kellie. I got six shirts for 30 bucks! Wahoo! (It was awesome!) Then Aimee and I went to He's Just Not That Into You and it was really good! I can't remember what else we did. But it was nice to have no school.

Today is Dave's birthday and we've had fun celebrating so far. Katie (my awesome amazing generous roommate) went with me at 1:30 am to chalk his doorstep and decorate his door. His roommate Jonathan (who gets roped into about everything I do for Dave these days) made us hot chocolate and put some signs on the inside). Dave has better pictures because they were during the day, and so I'll post those later. But we had fun. I made breakfast this morning, we watched Finding Nemo, did a few hours of homework..and now, I'm up to super secret plans and I'll update the rest of his day later!
(Admire my skills of cursive in sidewalk chalk!!)

Happy Birthday Dave! You're the best boyfriend I ever had...let's get a mawiage...a mawaige license....

(I told you that was my favorite quote!)

Oh hey! P.S. We got our marriage license (my clever facebook status: Amanda is licensed to wed) (Hey, I thought it was good!) Two weeks, baby!!

[automaticsupersonic]

So the upstairs main bathroom in the Wilk have gone 22nd century:

Automatic flushing

Automatic sink/soap

Automatic hand dryer (no, these things are hard core) (it looks something like this) (And I didn't even use it because it sounds like a jet is in the bathroom and I felt dumb...)

and...Automatic toilet paper!!

Seriously? I laughed silently the whole time was I was going potty, and thinking how this is only potential for embarrassment! Everyone hears how much toilet paper you use...and I like my toilet paper, okay??

I understand you want to save paper, but you know, I think we deserve some autonomy. The sinks are cool...though I don't like automatic because I have yet to perfect the art of placing my hand in the right position with the right movement...

angels and demons

All I know is that the new Angels and Demon movie needs to be pg-13. It's my favorite book besides Harry Potter.

Pleeeease.

Tom Hanks looks much better as Robert Langdon with shorter hair. AND it has Ewan McGreggor. One of my favorites.

Ahh....pleeeeeeeease.

flowers

She made two flowers for Dave, and we used both because they both were good!

We went and did some bridals this weekend up on temple square. We decided to do it there because we could get a few wedding-looking pictures since we might be pressed for time on the wedding day, it has pretty cool buildings, and where else are we going to do it in the winter? We even found some green...but mostly we liked the buildings and water stuff.

It was so much fun and we felt like we were cheating! Everyone kept wishing us well and telling us we looked good...and we weren't married! It was cool to get all the attention and everything, but we can't wait until it's for real! It was great!

The cutest part was the little girls: "mom, it's a princess!!" (aw, I felt so silly!)

or the guy who checked me out then gave Dave a high five and told him he did good. (I didn't actually witness that part).

I prayed all Friday for a clear day, and that is what we got (oh, glory). I forgot to request no wind, but that's okay. It was sunny and warm when the wind wasn't blowing, and a little chilly when it was. In the shade, though, that's where we hit the problems! It was SOO cold! It was fun though, and Dave looked good in a tux. It was fun to dress up and take pictures. I think they'll turn out really well!

And I've raved all weekend about my flowers. My soon-to-be sister-in-law is doing our flowers, and the bouquet she did for the pictures was absolutely amazing! It has dark pink and red gerber daisies and red roses. I can't wait for all the rest of the flowers because she is so good at what she does (well, as Dave would tell you, it is her major). still, thanks Shanna! It was so pretty. I'm sad it will wilt in a few days, but now I love looking at it! I can't wait for the next one!

I had a creative title...but I forgot it...

This last week or so:

1. I accidentally deleted a lot of pictures from high school and freshman year. I was very bummed (I'm not saying I cried a little, but I'm not not saying it either) and eventually I got over it enough to investigate the damage. Kristen and Katie should have the ones from freshman year and my home computer should have the rest. Fortunately, it could have been worse and it's all good. Except I haven't gotten around to getting the rest of them yet.

2. I got 89% on my stats test, only missed 4 on physical science, and almost bombed lds marriage. Boo. (But I thought the stats one turned out really well)...

3. uh...school is pretty good. Here is the run down:

Stats: not as bad as I was expecting, but I fall asleep in class a lot. The homework is pretty easy...hopefully I can learn regression this week, I've missed some on that because of my mid morning naps...

Physical science: some of it is so boring, some is interesting...I don't know. Not too bad...

Chronic diseases: Okay, so this class is pretty easy because most of the lectures are on things I've heard before...but it's still interesting. BUT. We had a research brief due that was 2 pages and had a few criteria we were supposed to cover. So, as always, I started a bit late...and I should have stayed up and finished it but I just saved it for the two hour break after work...(dumb dumb dumb). I ALWAYS think citing will take less time than it actually does. Anyways, I wrote it on Alzheimer's Disease and it was pretty easy. After I turned it in, I realize that I forgot completely to include a part of the paper. GAH! Darn it! Okay, so I was like well it's out of 100 points so I can miss some points and be okay. She passes them out today and tell me she wants to explain my score: Because I didn't do that part, my score was 83 (boo) but because she though my paper (mine!) was better than a B paper, she just GAVE me the 10 points and I got a 93! An A! WHOO!!

Go writing skills....you rock.

Epidemiology: Not too bad. I fall asleep a bunch (I sound pathetic) and some parts are boring but it's still over all-y interesting. We have a test tomorrow and we can have a cheat sheet that is double sided...and I feel bad putting all the stuff I can on it. That probably means it's going to be hard but whatever, I have my cheat sheet! I'm not doing too bad with the material, some computations are hard (like age adjusting...blehh) but...whatevs. We'll see!

Intro to public health: interesting, once a week, whatever.

lds marriage: bleh, starting to hate it. I'd dread it if it weren't for Dave. Though actually I'm sorry I asked him to take it (and had myself take it). maybe it's the teacher (I like him though, just not his material). I got a rather low score on the test and was really surprised I did so poorly. I studied, went to lectures, remembered all the quotes...it's just frustrating that a dumb (excuse the language) religion class can be so hard! It's not new concepts or anything! Freak! I beat this test with Stats! STATS!!

Work is good...it's work. People are really stupid but somehow I get through my three hour shift...I'm looking forward to a change of job material this summer.. maybe in the fall. I like my job but I've been here over a year! Long time!!

I'm really excited to move to Connecticut for the summer, and tonight I was looking up furnished one bedroom apartments (was I supposed to be studying instead? Erm...) and I found three complexes that each sound perfect. There was one that we liked best...furnished, cute (oh a must, right Dave?) (okay, and they might not all look like that...), washer/dryer, gym/pool (yeah right, like I exercise...), walking distance from the bus (our transportation for the summer)...and other stuff. And it was pretty reasonable rent. I don't know, I really hope it works out cause I really really like it! Connecticut is beautiful (that I can tell) and is so close to so many cool places! I'm sooo excited!!

We worked on invitations this weekend...and tonight Dave and I did some. Whoo! twenty four days people!! I looked over at Dave and was wondering what the total look of disgust on his face was, and it was from the taste of the envelopes. yeah, they were gross. Hope you guys like 'em!

And I hope it's true that married people are lame and go to sleep earlier than single people because I need to stop falling asleep in classes. Dave and I really like each other but we also like sleep! Catch 22....for 24 more days! Ha ha!!

Okay, I think that's all.

skiutah

I never even wore the ski goggles on my eyes...I felt they impaired my vision but I felt cooler with them on. Like I was legit.

We went skiing at sundance and it was so fun! At first it was super frustrating because I was so bad...and the whole first time down all I was fall and yell to Dave that I couldn't do it. After we made it to the bunny tow rope slope and I learned how to ski without poles. That was fun. Then we went up again where a biffed it off the lift (funniest job ever...) (Ouch....that was tied-for-first fall) and took five minutes to get untangled, up, and blink back tears from landing on my skis and stuff. Then that time down the hill, I didn't fall ONCE! And I went fast! And for long distances! It was AWESOME! The weather was pretty much perfect! And that's why I'm so sore but today is a lot better...and so worth it anyways!

I still am not going to post videos because I look ridiculously pathetic at best and a loser 20 year old first time skier at worst. It was totally unfair to see 10- year olds pwning me at skiing/snowboarding. What the crap!!

But it was a blast! Then we took back the skis, made a delicious dinner, watched The Illusionist (well, I watched about half...) and then x:3. Over the last 2 weekends we've watched the X mens. They are awesome!

Then this week it's just homework and work and hopefully a wedding plan or two.

Plant update: DAVE'S SPROUTED! We aren't going to fail at marriage after all! WHOO! It's a teeny tiny little plant, but it's there! We just have to get mine up....

samba...

Here are some things about me...(aka, summary of the weekend)

I've worn my sambas or my brown boots every single day of winter semester (including Sunday...I work around the boots to find a dress)...and until the ground is dry, I can't see that changing. Realistically though, I'll probably wear them (the sambas) until they break...including the summer. Best shoes I've ever bought.

I finally won something on e-bay...but you won't know what it is until February 21st.

I finally went skiing this weekend (more on that...and pictures later)...first time in my entire life and I've lived in Utah for all of it. I loved it!!

I'm so sore I think I'll collapse walking to school...

and I'm getting married in basically 31 days (aka "long month") Once we hit the 6th of February, we've dubbed it "short month", as there are 28 days left. And yeah, I'm excited! I don't know...it's big but I can't think of anything else bigger I'd rather do instead, if it came down to that.

The superbowl office was awesome. Pam and Jim...oh man, finally. That was so good. And the first five minutes was the funniest five minutes of the office I think I've ever seen. Yeah, finally.

Superbowl, well....I think the Steelers suck and that might be a tad bandwagonish because I don't really like the NFL so much...but seriously, hate the Steelers....I guess.

My parents don't know how they raised such a tolerant child...uh...I thought that was a good thing :)

I've eaten 10 pieces of toast this weekend....okay maybe like seven.

Dave was such a cute kid. He's pretty cute now too.
